WEARING AS A PERSONAL FRAGRANCE
INHALATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS ALLOW MOLECULES TO SUPPORT OUR BODY SYSTEMS.
One of the most effective ways to experience essential oils aromatically is by using an essential oil diffuser.
When inhaled, the essential oil molecules travel through our nasal passage to the limbic brain. Our olfactory receptors are directly connected to the limbic system, the most ancient and primitive part of the brain, recognized as the center of emotion. This part of the brain controls our “fight or flight” response, memories, moods, hormone secretions, and neurochemical* changes. When oils are diffused, the vapor enters through the lungs and are dispersed throughout the body. Using essential oils aromatically can also improve indoor air quality by eliminating airborne pathogens.
We use them aromatically by inhaling them directly from the bottle, putting a few drops in your hands and cupping your palms to breathe in (I like to warm my hands by rubbing them together), or by using a diffuser.
A neurochemical is a small organic molecule or peptide that participates in neural activity.
