Setting Up at a Retail Location

RECORDING of a walk-thru of a retail location with doTERRA integrated:
Items to have on hand:

  • your contact details and business card

  • doTERRA oil testing methods and what CPTG means

  • quick claims guide = what we can and cannot say about the oils

  • price list

  • oils and blends available - reference sheet

  • original copy of a retail order form doTERRA Binder: put all of the following documents into plastic sleeves for quick access for the staff and I and for people to order oils that are not in stock (to make copies and keep them in the binder until the item is ordered)

  • Wellness Advocate enrollment form if anyone is interested in becoming a member

  • Information sheets on all the products you will have in stock thus far

  • Have a little sample vial stand to have at the front desk so people can smell the power.  Perhaps add a piece of cotton ball to the vial and press down with tweezers. Then cap it - I don’t use stoppers with this. This allows everyone to have an aromatic experience but not go through as many oils

  • Have various photos at the space to draw attention such as:

  • Official doTERRA retailer

  • Oil of the month card that stands up in a little stand alongside the oil of the month

  • A little card to note that there are other oils and products that can be ordered

  • A poster noting that each month there will be an oil class to talk about the uses of the oils and products (they have in stock)

Selling Retail

Here is how the retail model works:

  1. Store owner signs up and runs a personal order every month. Best scenario to suggest is that they place at least a 100pv LRP order and order items for the store to sell at retail price through their LRP order. That way when customers decide to enroll with them - they will also be setup to earn the commissions from that enrollment.

  2. Smart store owners use retail to intro customers to doTERRA, educate them & build residual $$$

  3. Getting past the retail mindset is the challenge here… hauling buckets vs building pipeline

Policy Manual Section 13A: Retail Store Policy

With written approval from the Company, a Wellness Advocate may sell products and/or promote the doTERRA business opportunity through retail stores such as health food stores, grocery stores, and other such establishments, except in such stores or establishments that, in the Company's sole discretion, are large enough to be considered state, regional, or national chains. Wellness Advocates may not sell products through online auctions or mall sites, such as eBay or Amazon, without specific written permission from doTERRA. Wellness Advocates who wish to sell on site may do so only by complying with the specific doTERRA requirements and signing the Online Auction/Mall Agreement with doTERRA insuring proper conduct and compliance with all doTERRA policies.

Policy Manual Section 13B: Service Establishments

Wellness Advocates may sell products through service establishments that provide services related to the products. For example, doTERRA products may be sold through the offices of doctors and other healthcare professionals, health clubs, spas, and gyms.

Requesting approval from doTERRA:

To obtain permission, you must email compliance@doterra.com with your completed application

Suggested Oils/Blends to Sell and Display:

Keep at least 2 on of anything you’re selling:

  • Balance

  • Lavender

  • Lavender Touch

  • Lemon

  • OnGuard

  • Deep Blue

  • Oregano

  • Wild Orange

  • Peppermint

  • Peppermint Touch

  • AromaTouch [if it’s a spa]

  • Easy Air [Breathe in the US]

  • Zen Gest [DigestZen in the US]

  • Seasonal: Terrashield Spray, Purify

  • 2 x Intro Kit [lemon, lavender, peppermint]

  • 2 x Essential Care Kits [previously called Family Physician]

TIP: Teach the retail owner/orderer to bulk order during 200pv promo months to maximize their earnings!

Other items you may want to order for display:

  • Order a sample box or CD case to put all oils in sample form for people to aromatically experience

  • Order a wood display rack or spinner for oils that are retail

  • Have a chalkboard or dry erase board near the oils to inform customers of prices and upcoming essential oil classes

  • Canadian + US Product Catalog

  • If you would like these holders at half the price ask me...I’ll hook you up!

With every retail purchase, consider:

  • Including a postcard in the bag with upcoming classes or a link to a short educational webinar you’ve recorded on using their oils

  • A sample of an oil they’re not purchasing

  • Usage Guide

The best approach is to meet the spa director/owner and give them some oils + a diffuser to experience as a ‘loaner’ for a week. Once they have a cool experience with the oils they will see the bigger picture. On your 2nd meeting you could review how you can support them in launching oils for retail sales, a few in house EO 101 classes perhaps, talk about ways to take a retail customer to a wholesale account.

REVIEW EARNINGS POTENTIAL WITH SPA:

Review what it means to be a Wellness Advocate: Purchase products at 25% off retail. On each month’s order of 50pv or more, receive a percentage back in product credits. Example, month 1-3 receive 10% back in credits, month 4-6 receive 15% back, After 1 year receive 30% back in credits for a total of 55% off retail. Receive 100% shipping back in product credits. Qualify for the free product of the month. Have your own doterra account/website. Have the opportunity to earn commissions on sales.

Retailers have to charge minimum 10% over wholesale. Store owner signs up and runs a personal LRP order every month and begins earning free product back through rewards program + shipping rewards [which they can sell at retail]. If their monthly LRP order is higher then 100v, they will also begin earning residual income off of anyone that converts from retail customer —> wholesale. [Smart store owners use retail to introduce customers to doTerra, educate them, and build a residual income.] Getting past the retail mindset is the challenge here...

Educational support to consider providing the SPA:

Staff Training: Provide monthly staff training for the first 3 months and then on a quarterly basis. Training schedule can be adjusted to meet staff needs. Ideally, there will be someone in house teaching the essential classes going forward

Customer Education:  Provide monthly classes at the Spa. Classes can be customized to fit your needs

AromaTouch Technique: An application of oils to the back and feet that targets-mood, immunity and inflammation. The one day training costs $150, which includes: 5 hours of instruction and a full set of Aromatouch Technique essential oils ($100value). A Spa typically charges $40 for the 30-40minute aromatouch technique service. *Note - you can connect with a local certified AromaTouch teacher to offer this workshop at the spa

Give them 2 week loaner box with the following:

  • Lotus diffuser

  • Wood display block for the oils

  • Top Spa Oils: lavender, breathe, peppermint, wild orange, serenity, aroma touch, deep blue, 1L pump of deep blue?

  • Products from doTERRA spa category [new products launching convention 2016]

  • Essential Life Book: pg 412 has great ideas on personal care

  • Essential Yoga Book
